Dear 2011 & 2012 Livingston Citizens Institute Alumnus,

In 2011 and 2012 you were one of approximately 122 members of the first and second class of the Livingston Citizen's Institute. Although there is a new class attending the 2013 Citizen's Institute you have not been forgotten.

We promised that you would be kept involved and that we would be offering some elective sessions for you to enjoy and more important will be educational and informing. The following is what we have set up for you:

Making “Cents” of Municipal Finance

April 24, 7:30 p.m.

 Senior Community Center

Presented by Michele Meade, Township Manager, and William Nadolny, Chief Financial Officer, this session is geared to understanding the municipal finance process from annual budget to long-range financial planning.  It deals with how the ‘price of government’ is set for the coming year, determining how much debt is too much and how debt management figures into the annual budget.  The session is intended to help residents be informed users of the budget information that the township provides each year.

Understanding Livingston's Council-Manager Form of Government

May 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Senior Community Center

What are the roles of Mayor and Township Manager in Livingston's form of government?  How does the Mayor's role differ from other members of the Township Council?  Does Livingston have a CEO - and if so, who is it?  How is Livingston's form of government like or unlike that of our neighboring communities?  These questions will be addressed in an explanation of the division of powers and responsibilities in the Council-Manager form of municipal government.

Please RSVP to Lorri Patino at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or 973-535-7973 by April 23rd (a.m.) for the "Making "Cents" of Municipal Finance" and by May 13th for "Understanding Livingston's Council-Manager Form of Government"
